B2 is where many students underestimate the exam. These are the patterns Bobby coaches through in every B2 batch.
B2 Schreiben requires a specific structure: introduction, thesis, arguments with examples, counter-argument, conclusion. Students who write fluent but unstructured German score below their actual language level.
B2 graders expect a richer vocabulary range — collocations, academic register, synonyms for common words. Students who default to simple B1-level words get marked down even if their grammar is clean.
Subjunctive II (Konjunktiv II), passive voice, relative clauses, and two-part conjunctions (entweder...oder, weder...noch) are expected at B2. Avoiding them to stay safe actually signals lower proficiency to the examiner.
B2 speaking requires arguing a position, conceding points, and redirecting — not just describing or presenting. Students who haven't practised genuine debate in German find the interaction section the hardest part of the exam.
